MAJOR SPONSOR HSBC ANNOUNCED FOR SINGAPORE WAKEBOARD WORLD
CUP
As we now approach the closing stages of the 2004 Wakeboard World Cup
organized by the International Waterski Federation, final preparations are being
made at the magnificent downtown site in Singapore. This Wakeboard World
Cup Stop will take place there on October 30 / 31.
HSBC, recently nominated the Global Bank of
the Year 2004 by The Banker, has come on board as the title sponsor of the
Singapore Stop. With 110 million customers, 230,000 staff, and 10,000 offices in
76 countries and territories, this is one of the world’s largest banking and
financial services organizations.
HSBC is not new to involvements in major
sporting activities. The HSBC Group used the Jaguar Team in Formula 1 to
launch a new corporate identity, is the current sponsor of the World Match Play
Golf Championships in Wentworth, England – and is also a key investor in the
HSBC Arena at the Buffalo Waterfront in New York. HSBC made the following
announcement in Singapore -
"HSBC is pleased to be able to help bring this world-class
wakeboarding event to Singapore for the benefit of our sporting
community,” said Wendy Lim, HSBC's Head of Marketing. “We see
this as a good opportunity for us to reinforce our brand promise as The World's
Local Bank. In particular, as wakeboarding is an increasingly popular sport
among young professionals, an important customer segment to HSBC, we believe the
HSBC Wakeboard World Cup will be of added interest and benefit to
them."
HSBC have also highlighted their Wakeboard
World Cup involvement on their Web site – www.hsbc.com.sg/sg Details of a
“Guess The Winner” and Photography competition are also announced to support
this event – and also “Early Bird Giveaways” for the first 500 visitors each day
to the Singapore Stop on October 30/31.
The President of the International Waterski Federation, Kuno Ritschard,
also stated as follows “We are delighted to welcome HSBC, The
World’s Local Bank, to our World Cup and to show them the excitement of
Wakeboarding. This rapidly growing discipline has created a totally new
and refreshing water sport around the World and having HSBC as an experienced
global partner is very encouraging indeed. As we have active Federations in most
of the countries included in HSBC’s international network, we see this as a
natural marriage for both our organizations”
